Within the activities of the Jean Monnet Chair CE4INT – Circular Economy for Sustainable Development and International Trade, Professor Massimiliano Montini participated as speaker in the event “Enrico Mattei: International Cooperation, Africa and New Generations”, promoted by MODAVI APS – RA.
The initiative explored the strategic relevance of the Mattei Plan in redefining Italy’s role in international cooperation, particularly in relation to partnerships with African countries. The discussion addressed themes closely connected to the objectives of the Jean Monnet Chair CE4INT, including sustainable development, international cooperation, intergenerational responsibility, and the promotion of long-term partnerships aligned with the principles of the European Green Deal and circular economy transition.
A particularly significant aspect of the event was the participation of Andrea Abodi, who highlighted the importance of strengthening sustainable international partnerships focused on opportunities for younger generations and shared development strategies.
The dialogue brought together academics, institutional representatives, and experts who offered complementary perspectives on the challenges and opportunities associated with the Mattei Plan and future Euro-African cooperation frameworks. Contributions from Barbara Mineo, Alessandro Zehentner, Lorenzo Ortona, Raffaele Marchetti and Paolo Piciocchi enriched the debate with interdisciplinary reflections on sustainability, governance, and international collaboration.
The event marked the beginning of a broader initiative involving several Italian universities aimed at promoting the cultural and strategic legacy of Enrico Mattei while fostering concrete pathways for cooperation, education, and sustainable shared development.
