Bringing Europe Closer to Citizens: Inauguration of “La Bottega del Cittadino Europeo” in Pratovecchio Stia

As part of the outreach and territorial engagement activities promoted within the Jean Monnet Chair CE4INT – Circular Economy for Sustainable Development and International Trade, a new European information desk, “La Bottega del Cittadino Europeo”, was inaugurated in Pratovecchio Stia.

The initiative was developed through a collaboration between the Municipality of Pratovecchio Stia, Europe Direct Siena of the Università di Siena, and Pi Greco – Bottega di Ingegneria, with the aim of bringing European information and opportunities closer to citizens and local communities.

The inauguration was attended by local and regional representatives, including Luca Santini, Irene Galletti, and Fausto Ghelli, as well as artist Sara Lovari, who created the inauguration plaque, and Angelita Campriani.

The initiative is part of the broader “Officine Capodarno” project, a space designed to support ideas, skills, and entrepreneurial development in the mountainous areas of Casentino, promoting local innovation and territorial cohesion.

This experience reflects the core mission of the Jean Monnet Chair CE4INT: strengthening European citizenship by fostering direct engagement between European institutions, academic actors, and local communities, ensuring that the European Union becomes more accessible, tangible, and relevant in citizens’ daily lives.
